Qatar Credit Bureau (CB) has been accredited by the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) as an accredited Local Operating Unit (LOU) for the local allocation of Legal Entity Identifiers (LEI). Qatar Credit Bureau issues LEIs to legal entities using the requirements set by GLEIF and the agreed principles outlined by the LEI Regulatory.
What is the Legal Entity Identifier Code?
- It is a 20-character alphanumeric code based on the ISO 17442 standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
- It relates to the main reference information that enables a clear and unique identification of legal entities participating in financial transactions.
- Each LEI contains information about an entity's ownership structure and thus answers the questions of 'who is who' and 'who owns whom.
- LEI data pool can be regarded as a global directory, which greatly enhances transparency in the global marketplace.

Qatar Credit Bureau through the Legal Entity Identifier system provides the possibility of registration, renewal, transfer and updates for legal entities operating in the State of Qatar through the online management system. All required entity registration details of address, ownership information, supporting documents and payments are to be submitted online. The system provides automation and validation where applicable, to assist in data entry according to the formats and standards required by the GLIEF.
